Paradise on the Margins is the brainchild of Lexi Adsit. Here is a note regarding her intentions:
It is not, and never will be, my intention to utilize this anthology and others that may come from it to benefit financially. It is my hope that this anthology will serve as a public education tool to humanize transgender women of color in various diasporas, as well as a political strategizing tool for social movements to center and prioritize mutual aid and help ensure that trans women of color within the reader’s community survive and thrive.
It is my hope that I will be able to pay everyone who contributes and assists in the creation of this book, whether it is from my own pocket, revenue generated by sales, donations from community members, book readings or other speaking opportunities, grants, or a combination of the above.
It is my intention to provide professional development, writing opportunities, and feedback to trans women of color, especially Black trans women. I intend to ask others to volunteer their time and energy to support our writers as well. It is my intention to follow the leadership and wisdom of those whose liberation I support: Black, Indigenous, disabled, undocumented, fat, neuroatypical, sex workers, and formerly incarcerated people, and any combination therein.
